If you haven’t heard Gorillaz new album, Plastic Beach by now then you’re missing out on one amazing album. Once again, they are on some next level shit. However, if you’re still living in a cave and don’t really care about discovering new music, let us give you these two tracks from their newest work. Gorillaz have included the amazing voice of Lou Reed as well as the unique synth-pop sounds and vocals of Sweden’s Little Dragon. PS Have a good fucking Friday.
This weather’s got me on some cart wheelin around town energy levels wouldn’t mind taking an extended lunch break at Belle Isle right now… meh, this song will have to do instead. Cults is a rising NYC duo that includes the lovely voice of singer Madeline Follin backed by a shuffling 1960’s girl group rhythm. We think you’ll enjoy this while riding your bike today. PS Mo, it’s going to be 75 degrees in Richmond tomorrow fool!
Heard this guy in a quite little bar on Broad Street one night. “Who is this?” I asked my bartender friend, “The Tallest Man On Earth”, he said.
Niclas Stenholm just so happens to be “The Tallest Man on Earth” and he lives in Sweden and just so happens to make some lovely music that you should listen to on this lovely morning.
Face like an angel and soul of the devil, this buxom babe was the female Elvis of the day aka the Queen of Rockabilly. She had the natural rhythm and the blues to rock the socks off anyone, including the King himself. Turn this shit up and rock your way into Friday…enjoy!
With experience being a keyboardist for Animal Collective, Panda Bear, and Haunted Graffiti, and strong influences from greats like Joy Division, Scott Walker and Bowie, John Maus produces a pleasently accessible new wave sound that makes me wanna do THIS. Enjoy!
By now, everyone and their mother has seen the latest inspiring commercial by Nike. With their sequence of failures and successes, the video brings the reality of becoming a champion athlete. Accompanied with an amazingly motivational song by The Hours, the video makes me wanna challenge the limits of my own abilites and just give a big “Fuck you” to barriers.
Local Natives, first of all, is a sweet ass name for a band, and as a plus, they sound good. The five man band out of Los Angeles kind of reminds me of a faster paced Fleet Foxes. They still have those neo-folk roots and harmonizing in them, just with a touch of the city boy groove that comes with living in Hollywood.
Hands down, one of my favorite Outkast songs of all time. I don’t think anyone has yet to come out with a song that even closely resembles the harmony, flow, and sound of this track. The drums, the trumpets and the vocals are completely one of a kind, showing that Outkast was on some next level shit before people even knew what next level shit was.
Caribou has a new album coming out April 20th entitled Swim, and by the sounds of the first single to be released, Odessa, who knows what to expect. The band is made up of Daniel Snaith, Ryan Smith, Brad Webter and John Schmersal. Caribou can combine complex rhythms with psychedelic melodies like no other, well, Animal Collective is pretty damn good at it too. Anwyays, give Odessa a try, we think you’ll like it.
I got a sweet spot in my heart that keeps the smell of summer and sweat near, and gets me going back to the addicting tunes of Tough Alliance. So when i stumbled upon a song I’ve not yet heard, its always straight to the song of the day post. Enjoy.
