Should make for an enjoyable day. They’ll also be giving a bunch of shit away seen in the flyer above. Just get out and go!

Looking for that special someone

In collaboration with Keds & Opening Ceremony, Richard Saja has created a new limited shoe specially for Fashions Night Out. The Camp Oxford as it’s called takes a mix of new and old perfect for the historically sound fashion fiend.

“Richard has been remixing and recontextualizing quintessentially French toile prints since 2001 when he first designed a set of toile-printed pillows embellished with clever, playful twists on monochromatic pastoral scenes. Anyone familiar with “Toile de Jouy” — a print that originated in 1700s France — would most likely associate it with the sweet, girly Marie Antoinette-style decor of grandma’s dining room, but Richard’s reinterpretations subvert the expected daintiness by inserting figures reminiscent of the artist’s childhood doodles: superheroes, monsters, clowns, and mutants.”

- JESSE HUDNUTT of O.C.

I’ve just discovered the musically inclined David Byrne keeps an online journal filled with mildly frenetic and properly explained rants about what goes through his head. Random. Informative. Humorous. He covers things from the fall of print/newspapers to analogies like the interet/bandwidth and showers/faucets. He also releases a themed radio playlist every month, which is unpretentious and inspiring. Dive in HERE.

En Kärlekshistoria (A Swedish Love Story) is a 1970 Swedish film directed by Roy Andersson that stars two cute little Sweeds named Ann-Sofie Kylin and Rolf Sohlman as two teenagers falling in love. Inspired by the Czechoslovak New Wave, the film was Andersson’s feature film debut.

The film has some pretty amazing scenes too due to the fact that the two main characters are just about as cute as cute gets. I’ve already got a serious crush on Ann-Sofie Kylin. It’s also filled with an awesome look in to 70’s Swedish fashion which of course, was ahead of it’s time. Just check out some of the shots.

It’s a surprisingly mature effort at describing teenage love to those who have never experienced it. Honest, sweet, and beautifully shot this is also a film that captures marvelously the spirit of a country on the verge of a massive economic crisis. Highly recommend it.
