6/27/2011 - Mark Hogancamp

After experiencing a brain damaging beating outside of a bar in Kingston, New York, Mark Hogancamp suffered complete memory loss, as well as the ability to walk, talk, and eat. He made good progress after being treated through state issued therapy, but the plug was pulled, leaving Hogancamp in the dust. Not able to afford private practice help, he decided to create his own therapy in the form of a make believe world called MARWENCOL, a WWII fantasy land that represented the people and dramas he dealt with in his life. When Mark’s stunningly realistic photos are discovered and published in an art magazine, his homemade therapy suddenly becomes “art,” forcing Mark to make a choice between the safety of his fictional town and the real world he’s avoided since his attack. Check out the trailer for the documentary above.
