Charming Baker
I’m was really diggin this guy’s work for both the content and the process. He uses a tequnique called Giclée which involves  making fine art prints from a digital source using ink-jet printing, and mixes it with screen printing and a variety of canvas materials. The outcome is this mix of textures that when played right have a really interesting relation to each other. See more of...

Hollander & Lexer
On my way back from the amazing Grizzly bear show on the water in Willamsburg, I stumbled across this lonely looking shop/ saloon of a store. In the middle of all the ruckas of the post concert exodus back to the subway station, there was this shop and it’s owner chillin in this timecapsule, somehow completely detached from the rowdy traffic. I veered into the antiqued out...

The traveling art show collective premieres at the Maxalot Gallery in Amsterdam as a fundraising drive for ASEM, a non-profit organization that benefits the children and orphans of Mozambique. The website is amazing too. Thanks...

R.I.P. Adam Goldstein aka DJ AM
Super unfortunate news for friends and family, as well as his wide range of fans and party goers. Cops found prescription drug bottles inside DJ AM’s residence at 210 Lafayette Street after the 36-year-old’s lifeless body spotted face-down in his bed at around 5:23 pm by a friend, who was concerned he hadn’t heard from the performer in several days, sources said. Our best...

Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros
This might be my favortie discovery of the month: Just heard this song while driving to a meeting before this storm that is about to hit any minute. I’m in the basement at work right now and all the lights keep flickring, and this song sounds perfect. They sound like Arcade Fire mixed with Johnny Cash, mixed with some other shit that I can’t really describe. Edward Sharpe & The...

Brightest Young Things loves Richmond
Two of the BLAAAHg’s homie, Nick Ghobashi and Captain Tom Fields, both got their photos from BFD featured on one of the internets most notorious spot for just about everything, Brightest Young Things. Basically what BYT is saying is, if you weren’t at Best Friends Day, then you suck. Keep it up guys.

ARRRRRR!!
I’ve official decided that if I were in a metal band, it would now absolutely have to be a Pirate Metal band. Avast ye mateys. And starboard your bows. Or something. Did you really think there wouldn’t be a sub-genre of metal called pirate metal? This shit is crazy, they sing about walking planks and treasures and sea battles and all that good shit. Just think if Pirates of the Carribean had...

They’re shot so well, and composed so beautifully that you could watch them over and over and over again. Best Friends Day 7 from...

Ryan McGinley at Alison Jacques Gallery
Shot in underground caves across America over the last two years, this is only a taste of the Moonmilk series that was recently posted in TinyVices.com. Photographed on 35mm with gels, lights, and brave models, the triptastic photos are filled with clusters of color and hidden subjects lurking in the cavernous landscape. The work will go on exhibit September 11th at the Alison Jacques...

Listen Up!
I’ve been on a bit of a metal stint latelya after seeing Children live, so here are some recommendations from my friend George whom I met on the way to the VA last Thursday. After being seperated from the friend i was going to ride up on the bus with, I felt the compulsion to create a new friendship as quickly as possible in order to share my supply of hops with. Thus i met George, a...

Mobile Get Loose Crew
Designed by Boston-based artist Kevin Cyr, the Camper Bike is both a fully functioning RV and just plain sweet. The pedal powered camper was constructed in April 2008 and is built for one. Attached to a burly tricycle frame made to haul goods, the cab-over easily sits on the back platform. Like a turtle shell this camper goes anywhere the owner can bike it. Te camper’s interior features small...
