The Spomenik Monuments
The Spomenik Monuments are an array of mass graves spread throughout Slovenia. In 1945, the then Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia set upon a program of purges of political opponents and undesirables at the end of World War II, resulting in over to 400 known mass grave sites holding tens of thousands of victims. And they are some crazy ass graves.

Original Victory Gardens
Victory gardens or edible estates have received quite a bit of attention in the last couple of years, with the culminating awareness in food and environmental issues. But back in the 1980’s it wasn’t the hot topic it is today. Artist Agnes Denes challenged urban growth with her defining piece titled Wheatfield A Confrontation. With the help from the Public Art Fund, Denes planted 1.8 acres of...

One person's trash, is another person's art
How many times have you had something laying around that you were using for a project, and your mom/teacher/janitor scoops it up and throws it away, never to be found again. Ain’t it a bitch, well Joshua Allen Harris is taking the trash back! This isn’t the first time I’ve seen these subway inflated structures, but New York natve Joshua Harris adds a playful surrealist...

BLAAAHg of the Day
The internet reminds me of No Doubt, happy accidents and the barber, and that’s why I found today’s blog, Blog About Photography. I was looking up the art of a fellow named Brad Troemel, after a buddy had described his blasphemous pieces, and found me an article at Blog About Photography, who, you guessed it, talks about his point and shoot photography. Created by Greg...

Ryan McGinness knows how to Party!
Ryan McGinness has organized a weekly themed party for 50 weeks, starting with the one shown above. In a city where parties are more commonly fueled by open bars, self promotion, and other alterior motives, McGinuess lays down some simple ground rules…50 parties. 50 themes. 50 weeks. No sponsors. No strangers. Straight up good times. Yes, that means that unless you know Mr. McGiness, your...

Who's up for a good game of Design!
Last week I was introduced to “Layer Tennis”, an online, real-time event where two designers swap a file back and forth for 15 minutes (the volley) trying to one-up each others design. During this time, a third person is moderating and posting everything online. Layer Tennis is hosted byCoudal Partners and sponsored by Adobe Creative Suite 4. The event occurs every Friday, usually in the...

Only in Spain
ARTEKS Arquitectura have created a gorgeous sculptural shade structure at a beachside park in La Pineda, Spain that mimics the shape of real nearby pine trees. The architects recognized the park’s need for shade, but were presented with the dilemma that salt spray from the nearby water would make it difficult to grow the same pine trees that already existed on the site. To solve the...

Back in the day, I used to have a real nice Patagonia backback, an essential for summertime on a bicycle. But, it got stolen, whomp whomp. I’ve been looking for a new pack for sometime now, and have narrowed it down to these two, both around the same price range. Help me pick.
The Subcrew Patch bag, available here.
Or the Superdry, available here. Which one?

Internet Art : Are you serious? An Interview with...
Internet art, as some may call it, is nothing new to the world of art. With it’s multi platform approach to appropriated nostalgia, it leaves one thinking, what’s the point? Occasionally political, yet often non sensical, the internet art has created a certain intrigue to a niche crowd of art believers that we may be on the cusp of a sort of transition period regarding what artists...
